YAA Spotlight Artists November 1, 2011 through November 16, 2011 JoHanna Wienert and Jeff Bertuleit

Exhibition, YAA Spotlight

The Yaquina Art Association will be spotlighting two artists,  Jo-Hanna Wienert and Jeff Bertuleit beginning Tuesday November 1, 2011 through Wednesday, November 16, 2011. The gallery is located at the Nye Beach Turnaround in Newport and is open from 11 am to 4 pm daily.

Local photographer,  JoHanna Wienert,   will be taking a slightly different approach this year to the presentation style of her photos.  Rather than hanging with the    traditional “framed under glass” method, she has had her photos mounted in three different variations of “floating” or “off the wall” type styles. Some are “standouts”, which the photo is mounted on a thick lightweight board with a finished edge.  Others are mounted on heavier masonite with beveled edges.  The backs consist of a block which adds dimension to the print by extending it out away from the wall by about an inch.  Both methods are finished with a clear glossy coating spray.  There will also be one “AluminArt Metal Print” that is actually printed on shimmering metal and has an aluminum “float mount” in the back which also seems to “float” the art off the wall.  There is no need for glass or a frame on any of these photos.

Jeff Bertuleit paints watercolors and oil, and enjoys the “plein air”  style of painting.  (A French expression which means “in open air” used to describe the act of painting outdoors.) Jeff grew up in Newport Beach, CA and has loved the beach ever since.  He studied architecture and Urban Planning and took classes from noted artists such as Roger Folk, Tim Clark and Chris Sullivan while in California.  Jeff moved to Oregon in 1990 and has been an active member of the Yaquina Art Association ever since.  He took lessons from Harry Neimula and workshops from Tom Lynch, Tom Allen, Kevin MacPherson, Camille Przewodek, among others.
