Hallie Moore Mosaics, Fused Glass, Found Objects Assembled Playful Explorations with Glass, Wood, Wire & More… November 7 – 20, 2023

YAA Spotlight

Hallie Moore is a local artist with a strong connection to the ocean and the fascinating bits it leaves behind. After 30 years on the Florida coast she has returned to Oregon—and to the beaches here. She is also drawn to fused glass, mosaics, and assembling pieces of formerly useful gearing and objects into something new and interesting. The result is a playful expression.

Her artwork sometimes includes guitars now transformed into intriguing wall objects that serve as illumination. She collects cast off fishing netting and microplastics from our beaches that she recasts with epoxy into “amulets” along with driftwood into Ocean Muses.

She says, “My pieces are found across the country in unexpected places.”

She has a tremendous sense of curiosity and fun that is found in every piece she creates. She encourages you to look closely at the range of materials used and how they are transformed into something that emerges from the pieces and parts.

Hallie is also exploring watercolors with the same enthusiasm as the rest of her work. She lives full time in Newport with her husband
