Yaquina Art Gallery Spotlight Wall Show featuring Diane Pinizzotto and Lila Passarelli – May 13th to May 21st, 2022

YAA Spotlight

The Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the artwork of Diane Pinizzotto and Lisa Passarelli in a Spotlight Wall Show from May 13th to May 21st.

Diane Pinizzotto’s colorful show includes 15 oil paintings ranging from a Model T truck to the majestic blue ocean and everything in between. Pinizzotto said, “I love nature and all of the colors that bring it alive. And I love working with oils!  This medium allows me the freedom to express what I am feeling, whether I am looking at the depth of the ocean, the smile on a child’s face, the beauty of a forest or a humble man-made object,” she concluded, ”oil painting to me is like writing poetry.”

Having taken painting classes for over 20 years, plus her inspiration to paint since childhood, has given Pinizzotto the opportunity to hone her technique in painting with oils. Her education, coupled with her natural creative ability shows well in her YAA exhibit.

Pinizzotto has lived in Lincoln County for 32 years. Her grandmother lived in Seaside where she learned to appreciate the sights, smell and rhyme of nature, especially the ocean.

Lila Passarelli joined the Yaquina Art Association in 1977 and started taking drawing classes from Bill Runyan, whom the Visual Art Center downstairs gallery was named after. Soon she began oil painting. In 1979 she began taking classes from Harry Niemela (for whom the CNC gallery was named after), (Harry being the N in the CNC gallery).

Lila was able to do several drawings for her daughter’s business, Wilderness Mint. She did drawings of the Yaquina Head, Yaquina Bay and Heceta Head lighthouses for Wilderness Mint.

She is also doing Eucastic paintings. Eucastic is the Greek word for hot wax. Lila has a studio and plans to offer workshops there soon. Animals are her favorite subjects and she likes doing drawings for people of their pets. She also loves doing landscapes, seascapes and lighthouses.

The Yaquina Art Association, established in 1947, is a non-profit Lincoln County art organization.  YAA’s primary purpose is to provide art education and promote the appreciation of the arts.
