Yaquina Art Gallery Pedestal Spotlight Show featuring the artwork of Reatha Ryan – March 23rd to April 5th

YAA Spotlight

In a two week Pedestal Spotlight Show from March 23rd to April 5th, the Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the artwork of Reatha Ryan. The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 4 pm every day.

The delight and beauty of sun shining through lovely colors of translucent glass inspires Reatha Ryan to create fused glass art. She enjoys the fun of creativity and the balance it brings to her right brain. Having worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Mental Health, her job has been fairly serious. Making glass pieces is a welcome stress reliever for her.

Creating this art among others in Teresa Kowalski’s Studio (kowalskiglass.com) is the way that she has learned this simple process that can bring beautiful, fun, and useful results. She has worked with Teresa in her studio for 12 years, ever since moving from Portland to live beside the ocean.

Most of her pieces are abstract art, playing with color and form. Her only background in art is working with clients in Art Therapy and a strong belief that we are all artists if we allow it. She loves the “accidental art” that sometimes surprises when a piece has been fired the second time and is complete. The laughter is healing too.

Now retired, Reatha has joined the YAA Gallery at the Nye Beach Turnaround to have an outlet for her glass art, as she continues to create more. She and her partner agree that their home is saturated with glass fusion pieces, and it is time to move some of them for others to enjoy.
