In a two week Wall Spotlight Show from October 13th to October 26th, the Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the artwork of Ginger Raia and photographer Graece Gabriel. The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 4 pm every day.

Ginger Raia continues to learn and experience new things all the time. She loves to take the amazing classes at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. Her artwork today is very different from the work she did years ago, but that is really all part of the fun.

She is a native Oregonian, has lived in Hawaii, and traveled the world before retiring on the Oregon Coast.  Art became important to Ginger at a very young age when she did the cartoons for a small local newspaper as her first paid “professional” job. She went on to do cartoons for a bigger paper then began to explore other art mediums. Painting and Sculpting are her main passions now. “I have been knee-deep in clay for 30 years”, she says.

Her new show is titled: “Dimensions”, which is all mixed mediums and mixed styles from a well-seasoned artist. All the artwork is for the fun and the enjoyment of the onlooker. Ginger looks forward to seeing you at her fall show.

Graece Gabriel is a local artist who lives in Otter Rock, and spends much of her free time frolicking with crows, anemones, and salty waves. Not shying away from stormy weather or downpours, she enjoys rain drenched walks on the beach with her camera gear, picking sand out of her hair and eyeballs, while swooning to the sound of the ocean’s song. Her photography seeks to capture a sense that nature is communicating with us. She uses macro and abstract images to convey a sense of connection and peace, while also seeking to freeze magical moments with crows, pelicans, and the forest that borders the shore.
