Yaquina Art Gallery Wall Spotlight Show featuring the artwork of Ted Crego and sisters B.J. Trotter and Rosemary Sumner–July 21st to August 5th

YAA Spotlight

In a two week Wall Spotlight Show from July 21st to August 5th, the Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the photography of Ted Crego and the photography & artwork of sisters B.J. Trotter and Rosemary Sumner. The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 5 pm every day.

Ted Crego was originally born and raised on a dairy farm in upstate New York.

His degree is in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University. Ted’s professional life was working for companies such as Coors Porcelain Co. and Coast Cast Corporation but mostly with Precision Castparts Corporation in Portland. He retired in 2009 and moved to Newport. He is having fun exploringhis hobby of photography with his wife, photographer Kim Cuc Tran. They like taking vacations to places where they enjoy doing photography. Some of the places include Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, Peru, Tibet, Canada and a European river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. Last year they cruised from Venice to Barcelona seeing 6 different countries. But some of their favorite places to visit are the wonderful National Parks throughout the USA.

Ted’s photo interests are varied, but he enjoys finding images that others may overlook, such as patterns and macro shots. Lately, he has been doing more panoramas and HDR (High DynamicRrange) photos. There is always something new to learn in photography especially when it comes to the myriad of software programs for post processing.

Ted’s photographs have received awards in competitions through the Vietnamese Artistic Photographic Association, Tri-Community Photo Center, Photographic Society of America, Tryon Creek Photo Club, Oregon State Fair Salon of Photography, Nature Photographers of the Pacific North West, Columbia Council of Camera Clubs and the Yaquina Arts Association Photographers.

Ted was a past President of Yaquina Arts Association Photographers. If you are interested in joining a photo clubs to work on your skills, check out the photo club at YAAPhotographers.org.

Sisters BJ Trotter and Rosemary Sumner both enjoy the beauty of Oregon. Their love of Oregon’s beauty is expressed in two different ways: photography and painting.

BJ Trotter is a photographer who loves to take her camera wherever she goes, recording her travels and interests. Her passion is macro photography. She especially loves to photograph flowers – for this event she will feature sunflowers. She produces beautiful and colorful scenes that delight the eye.

Rosemary Sumner is a painter who has a bachelor of fine art from Auburn University, earning a degree in Visual Design. After many years of working in the art department of a large printing company, she returned to her first love – painting. Rosemary primarily paints in acrylic and often in bold color combinations. She has been influenced greatly by the art of Georgia O’Keeffe and Vincent Van Gogh.
