YAA Spotlight

In a two week Wall Spotlight Show from June 9th to June 22nd, the Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the artwork of oil painter Angela Thomas and acrylic & mixed media artist Josephine Allen. The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 5 pm every day.

Angela Thomas’ Artist Statement:

From the time I can remember art felt a part of me. I simply created, having little formal training in “ART”. I recently heard the term “intuitive” painting and it cliqued, “That’s it.” I just observed, grabbed colors, and put the brush to work. There were many decades when art was dormant.

I was invited to join a Plein Air group and paint along the coast of Oregon and I came alive. My enthusiasm carried me along as I struggled to figure out the How-To’s of oil painting. Each week is a new and exciting experience. I found my Niche!

I discover every time I’m outdoors my eyes are constantly looking at all the colors of Nature. I love the LIGHT. I love Nature and strive to capture and interpret it to share myself with the world.

I must thank all those artists, family, and friends who have encouraged me to soar with eagles and PAINT!

Josephine Allen has a love of art and it shows in the variety of mediums she works with. She enjoys acrylic painting, china painting, watercolors, clay art, colored pencil, pastels, photography, mixed media, fiber arts, basket weaving, and jewelry making.

Her Spotlight show will feature her acrylic, oil, and mixed media paintings.
