Spotlight of John and Alana Williams at YAA gallery

YAA Spotlight

The Yaquina Art Association’s spotlight show will feature the photographs of John Williams and the paintings of his wife, Alana Williams.  The showing will begin Saturday April 19 th and runs to Friday May 1st.  The Gallery is located at the foot of the Nye beach turnaround at 789 NW Beach Dr.  Hours are 11am to 4pm daily.

Alana  Williams  has  always  been  creative;  beginning  with  pottery,  later  moving  on  to Decorative Painting, and then five years ago she joined the Yaquina Art Association and took her first  watercolor classes.   Since  then  she  has  been devoting  all  her  time  painting in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. She is showing several examples in this Spotlight.

John Williams photography reflects  his  attraction  to  coastal  subjects  having  growing  up  on  the Northern  California  coast  in  a  commercial  fishing  family.   He  became interested  in photography in his  teens but  it  was observing Ansel  Adams photographing the Coast of Mendocino County that influenced him the most.  The techniques that Adams used changed the way John approaches his own picture making.  After a 40 year career as an Electrical Engineer he is now able to devote his time to photography and wood turning.  He has been turning for more than 30 years and many of his items are on display in the YAA gallery during this spotlight show.
