Pastel Art class will be the featured artists for a two week spotlight show
The Yaquina Art Association Pastel Art class will be the featured artists for a two week spotlight show from Feb. 9 to Feb. 22, 2013. The show will be in the Yaquina Art Association Gallery at 789 NW Beach Drive (at the Nye Beach Turnaround) in Newport, Oregon. The gallery is open daily from 11 am to 4 pm and features both framed and unframed art as well as cards, photography, and a gift and craft room.
The Pastel class meets every Thursday from 10 am to 12 noon. The instructor for the class is Charlotte Carter. The class begins weekly with some kind of exercise or instruction and then the class can work on their own projects. At the end of the class each student can share their work. The class is ongoing so you can begin anytime. Drop ins are welcome, eve if you are just visiting the area. It is helpful to bring your own pastels and paper to class.
Charlotte Carter encourages the class to be fun and free, going back to their inner child. Charlotte says, “We are basically artists as children and it is fun. Sometimes we grow out of that. Growing up sometimes makes people too serious and they forget how to play with things. Creativitiy is a form of discovery.” Come and re-discover your inner child with this YAA class or one of the other ongoing classes in watercolor, colored pencil, clay, photography or oil and acrylics.
