2013 Juried Show of Photography Award Winners Announced

The Yaquina Art Association is pleased to announce the 2013 Juried Show of Photography Award Winners. The Exhibition, held from November 1-30, 2013 at the Yaquina Art Gallery in Newport, Oregon’s historic Nye Beach located just west of the VAC announced the following winners:

Mayor’s award   –  Sherrie Powell    “Rainy Day”  $100
Juried Third Place  –  Rich Bergeman   “Black Angus in Snowfall”   $200
Juried Second Place –  JerriLynn Woolley   “Reflection”    $500
Juried First Place  –  Sue Zhou  – “Casting a Shadow”       $700

The final award, The People’s Choice Award is still waiting for your votes throughout the month of November and the winner of that award will receive $100.  This event was open to participants from throughout the Pacific Northwest, seeking to recognize the outstanding quality and diversity of work being produced by many talented photographers in the region.  The show features the work of 34  photographers with 73 photographs accepted  from over 130 entries.

The Yaquina Art Association would like to thank Juror, Tom Hassler, from Portland, Oregon for being the juror in this event.  He is the past president of the American Society of Media Photographers.
He has a gallery in Portland and has received many awards including:  Advertising Photographers of America, International Photography Awards, American Society of Media Photographers, and Direct Marketing Photography. His website is:  tomhasslerphoto.com

The Yaquina Art Association is a community based non-profit art organization whose primary purpose is to provide art education and promote appreciation of the arts.and has been a steady artistic and educational influence in the Lincoln County area since 1947.
