Watercolor Class Showcase

Yaquina Art Association has been supporting and developing local artists since it began. As part of its mission, YAA offers classes to members and the public at no charge.
This showcase features the watercolor class participants’ work. The range is from highly experienced to just learning the techniques. Everyone in these classes is encouraged and given a welcoming space.
The artists in the showcase are John Bradley, Beverly Peterson, Sarah Hawklin, Luella Hartwell, Michelle Matthews, Marianne St. Marie, Hallie Moore, Pam Parker, Morgan Rutherford, Pat Schulke, Bernadette Solano and Deborah Marsh.
THE WATERCOLOR CLASSES MEETS ON MONDAYS. There is a regular morning class (9-11 am) and a regular afternoon class (1-3 pm) running about two hours in Newport. Limited art supply is available to borrow and YAA sells quality watercolor paper at a reasonable price.
The common space and support participants give one another is a forum for great learning, personal enrichment, and fun. Watercolor painting is a medium that requires a unique understanding of the palette colors, choice of paper, use of water, movement of the brush, and the inherent blending of colors on the surface. Even those familiar with oils, pencil, or pastel will find watercolor technique challenging—and rewarding. Those interested are encouraged to find out more at the gallery about joining the classes.
