YAQUINA ART GALLERY SPOTLIGHT FEATURES PHOTOGRAPHERS KIM CUC TRAN AND TED CREGO July 4th – 17th, 2026
Local fine art photographers Kim Cuc Tran and Ted Crego will have their two week spotlight show at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery, opening on Saturday, July 4th, 2026.
Both artists have extensive experience capturing the moment that lingers in the mind with their camera. They are also married to each other with both having past careers in engineering.
Their styles and choice of photos are so much different. While they photographed the same location, it is rare that they composed the same image.
After retiring in 2009, they have widely traveled around the world for photography. They also enjoy capturing the photogenic US National Parks and their favorite Central Oregon coast.
Ted Crego enjoys finding compelling images that interest him, then edit them to get the viewers to focus on the Center of Interest. He believes there is always something new to learn in photography. This is especially true with all the new cameras/lenses and myriads of software programs available for post processing.
Kim Cuc Tran enters the flow state in the process of capturing an image. Kim’s mantra is, “Simplify, simplify, simplify.” This mantra has served her well in the process of capturing & creating inspiring images. She enjoys shooting abstracts, close-ups, birds, flowers, architecture and landscape to create fine art photos to share with the viewers.
Both Ted and Kim have received numerous awards in regional and national photography competitions. You can find some of their awarded images posted on columbiacouncil.clubexpress.com and nppnw.org
They live in Newport and dedicate their time volunteering there. Both Ted and Kim are current board members of Yaquina Art Association and Yaquina Art Association Photographers.
