The Yaquina Art Association Photographers (YAAP) spotlight show from March 17 to March 30, 2012

YAA Spotlight

The Yaquina Art Association Photographers (YAAP) will have a two week spotlight show in the YAA Gallery from March 17 to March 30, 2012.  The show will be open from 11 am to 4 pm daily at 789 NW Beach Drive in the Nye Beach Turnaround in Newport, Oregon.

The photographers meet on the first and third Mondays in the upstairs classroom in the Visual Art Center from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.  Their focus is to provide an outlet for sharing and learning.  They have a monthly theme that club members are encouraged to bring up to 5 digital images to share.  The theme for the April 2nd meeting is “Cars”.   On the third Monday of each month they have a digital and print competition where the top images go on to the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs for a chance to win awards.

The YAAP often has programs and field trips giving the photographers a chance to learn new techniques, hear from other photographers, and go into the field to implement what they have learned. Two upcoming programs on the calendar are in June.

On June 4th at 7 pm the program will be by Greg Marshall on Astro-photography, “An Introduction to Astro-Photography for Terrestrial Photographers”.  Greg will share with us, “Why deep pixel data is important”, “How to capture deep data with inexpensive cameras”, and  “Preserving data integrity during processing”.

On June 18 at 7 pm.Vern Bartley will be presenting “Composition and a Whole  Lot More.”   His program will include: “the Big Three”, “the single most important component of an award winner”, what is the “Blink Test”, “Do your images have a COI” (center of interest), what is the “Golden Mean”, and other important parts of making a good image better.

The photography club is open to the community and has all levels of experience.  If you have any questions you can look at our website at www.yaaphotographyclub.com. or contact one of the photographers staff by calling Ted Crego, president at 541-265-4545, vice president, Sylvia Hosie at 541-336-2124, print chairman JerriLynn Woolley at 541 270-1939 or electronic image chairman, Kim Cuc Tran at 541-265-4545.
