Two-week Artisan Spotlight show, featuring the work of Marianne Weber
A two-week Artisan Spotlight show, featuring the work of Marianne Weber, will run from January 14th to 27th at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery in Newport.
Weber does fiber art and makes hats, scarves, headbands, hoodies, afghans, shawls, mittens, baby booties, and baby blankets, using many types of yarn.
Marianne was born and raised in Germany and it was there that she learned to crochet and knit at a very young age. She moved to the U.S.A. and has lived in Wisconsin, Washington, and Oregon since 1959.
In 1978, she moved to Lincoln County and she loves walking on the beach and reading. She is a volunteer at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery and the Newport Senior Activity Center. She has been a member of the YAA for the past seven years. She says she likes doing fiber art because it helps keep her busy, people enjoy the products she makes, and they are items that she can donate to people in need.
The show is open from 11 am to 4 pm daily, at the YAA Gallery, 789 NW Beach Drive, in Newport.
