“Light Painting” photography program Monday, June 6th at 7 pm

News & Events

Yaquina Art Association Photographers offer an opportunity for the public to learn the art of “light Painting” photography in a program Monday, June 6th at 7 pm.  The show will be free to the public and will be held in the upstairs classroom of the Visual Art Center (the yellow building) in Nye Beach (Newport).

Ben Carlson is an accomplished photographer who lives in the mid-valley area of Western Oregon outside of Eugene. He uses all the traditional photography standards and “rules” to capture moments that may otherwise go unnoticed.

In the last few years Ben has been venturing into the creative arena of “light-painting” photography which means different things to different people. Some call it photography while “painting with light.” In short the concept is to combine multiple longer exposure light-painted images of a subject into a wonderful photograph that can’t be captured through using “normal” lighting techniques. Ben will be sharing some of his imagery and how he does it, including an in class demonstration and computer tips. Amazing and unique light-painting images can be seen on his website at www.bencarlsonphotography.com.

“You can try to take the photographer out of the picture, but you can’t take the picture without the photographer.”
