YAA Spotlight

The Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the art of Jill Keck and Laren Woolley.  The show will begin on Saturday, August 4th through Aug. 17, 2012.  The Yaquina Art Association gallery is located at 789 NW Beach Drive below the Visual Art Center in Nye Beach and is open from 10-5pm daily.

Jill Keck will be hanging a variety of mediums. “Choosing one medium to create with is like choosing a favorite color. I’ll have a variety including photography, acrylics, watercolor and yes, soap… Everything will be based on something near and dear to me- the beach. I have been interested in art since I can remember. I used to come home from preschool and watch drawing shows on PBS and follow along. For me, art is an expression of emotion. I have 2 little girls and I want to pass on my love for creating. I named my business after them (Camille and Elise = Calise Soapworks & Such).” You can find Jill and her work displayed at Calise Soapworks & Such in the Historic Taft area of Lincoln City, the Newport Saturday Farmers Market and the Sunday Lincoln City Farmers Market. She will also have her soaps and jewelry  for sale at the Yaquina Art Gallery gift shop. Jill moved here in 2010 from Arizona. Originally, she is from West Virginia and has also lived in Pennsylvania and Florida. “I am a part of each of my states and I have enjoyed the journey.”

Although Laren Woolley’s photography often represents the Oregon Coast and his business, Oregon Coast Photography, he will also be displaying a couple of fine art photographs from his recent photographic excursions to Yosemite and red rock country in Northern Arizona.  Laren loves capturing vivid colorful grand landscapes as well as the tiny sea life.  He loves taking pictures of waterfalls in that quality time after sunset.  Laren is a member of the Yaquina Art Association Photographers and has won many awards in the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs and Nature Photographers of the Pacific Northwest.  His work is also shown on the Newport bayfront, in Lincoln City, Newport Saturday Market, the Pig and Pancake and Sizzler.
