Spotlight show Featuring Ted Crego and Donna McCoy

YAA Spotlight

The Yaquina Art Association Gallery will feature photographers, Ted Crego and Donna McCoy, for a two week spotlight show from July 21-Aug.3rd, 2012.  The show will run daily from 10am to 5 pm at the gallery located at the Nye Beach Turnaround on 789 NW Beach Dr. in Newport, Oregon.

Ted Crego was born and raised in a farm in upstate New York. After attending Alfred University to get a degree in Ceramic Engineering and 2 years in the Army he worked his way West and ended up retiring in Newport. Along the way he bought a Canon SLR in 1970 and has been learning about the art of photography ever since. The classes he took in California, where he met his wife Kim, helped him understand about composition and what makes a good photo. He even gave a talk at the Oregon State Fair last year on the “Three Steps to a Great Photo”. Ted and Kim enjoy vacations to all parts of the US and Asia to practice their art of photography.

Ted has been involved in several photo clubs and is currently the president of the Yaquina Arts Association Photo Club.

Donna McCoy says that Jellies and Sea Slugs (nudibranchs) are the some of her most  favorite animals to photograph.  “The stalked jelly is less than an inch across but it’s incredibly intricate — loaded with beautiful jewel-like details.  It’s an amazing animal but it’s also an incredible art form!”

Donna feels it is a privilege to photograph and share these amazing animals.  She hopes visitors will stop by the gallery to get a close—up view of these animals without having to get their feet wet!
