June 5 – June 19th is a two week Artisan show featuring the artwork of Peter O’Boyle at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery in Newport Oregon.  The gallery is open daily from 11 to 5 pm at 789 NW Beach Drive offering local artists a venue for their artwork.

Peter O’Boyle is a local artist and teacher who works and teaches classes from his studio/gallery adjacent to his home in Waldport, Oregon.  Peter is a former university art professor who taught at the University of Arizona, Arizona, Wright State University, Ohio, California State Long Beach, California and Eastern Oregon State University, Oregon before retiring to the Oregon coast.

Peter’s current work focuses on hand built ceramics that reflect the Southwest culture where he grew up.  Peter also incorporates his Irish heritage into pieces.  He likes to leave the marks of his hands and construction on the work so that it is obvious  to the observer that it was hand built.  Color and texture and decorative touches are important to the pieces.

 Peter Grew up in New Mexico.  He has a Bachelors of Art Education from the University of New Mexico.  He then moved to Oregon and earned his Masters and Ph.D. In Art Education at the University of Oregon.

 Recently, he has shown at the Ozone Art Gallery Newport, Windmere Gallery, Waldport, Nehalem, Civic Center Spring Sale, Nehalem, Yaquina Art Gallery, Newport Newport Visual Arts Center and Viewpoint Gallery, Waldport.  He can be reached most days at his studio in Waldport, Oregon.  Viewpoint Gallery, 939 Seabrook Lane, Waldport  541-270-4905.
