Yaquina Art Association pastel paintings exhibit opening Saturday, Feb. 21

YAA Spotlight

The Yaquina Art Association will feature pastel paintings in an exhibit opening Saturday, Feb. 21 through March 6.  The gallery is open from 11 – 4 pm daily at 789 NW Beach Drive in the Nye Beach turnaround in Newport Oregon.

Pastel class teacher Charlotte Carter is a member of the Yaquina Art Association and an active local artist.  The students have different art backgrounds and their own unique styles.  Each student is invited to hang some of their art during the spotlight show.  Charlotte often brings ideas for the class to use in their artwork so they class can work independently or with the teacher.

The Pastel Class meets from 10 am to noon every Thursday in the second floor classroom at the Newport Visual Art Center.  Classes are ongoing, informal and free.  Drop-ins are welcome.  There are no limits for age or experience.  Students are asked to bring their own art supplies but if they want to try the class first there are some supplies available to use.

The Yaquina Art Association volunteer their time to provide this and other art classes all year long.  Their combined goal is to promote and encourage the arts within Lincoln County.
