Ann Nicholson’s Art featured

YAA Spotlight

There will be a two week Artisan Artisan Spotlight show featuring the artwork of Ann Nicholson from March 29-April 11, 2014 at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery in Nye Beach.  Ann will be displaying wire pendants, painted pots, matted 5×7 prints, baskets from beach materials, etc. The gallery is open from 11 am to 4 pm daily and sells framed artwork of local artists as well as unframed arts and crafts.

Ann Nicholson says that she loves color, texture and shape and she tries to see how she can create different variations of them to make something beautiful to look at or something useful. Ann joined the Yaquina Art Association and learned how to paint in watercolor, “after much struggle” she adds.  She loves being a member of the art association and says it is a godsend for her artistic development.  She is also a member of the Lincoln County Small Farmers Association as well as the Yachats Farmers Market.

Ann has lived in Lewiston-Clarkston Valley in Idaho until she joined the Navy.  Since then she has lived in Wales in the United Kingdom for almost 2 years, Hawaii for 12 years and then here for the last twenty years.  She traveled extensively in the Navy, exploring western Europe, Guam, and Hawaii.  Since coming here she hasn’t traveled as much saying, “I don’t feel the need to travel since this place is the center of “God’s Creation”.  She has been selling her art in one form or another in galleries and/or outdoor markets from Newport to Yachats for nearly twenty years.  She is a member of the Fine Art America (an online site) as well as at the local farmers markets.
