Georgia Beard

Georgia Beard loves to work with oils, pastels, pencils, acrylics and watercolors.  She seems to gravitate most frequently to working with watercolors because of both the challenges and the versatility it offers.  She loves painting various subjects including people, children, animals, landscapes, seascapes, flowers and still life. Georgia also enjoys decorative painting in Russian art, both Palekh and Zhostova styles.  This is typically painting on wood using acrylic medium.  Georgia has studied this art under instructors from Russia who came to the U.S. She has also studied under a Norwegian instructor who traveled to the U.S. annually conducting workshops in the Rosemaling style of painting.

Georgia is a member of the Yaquina Art Association, Watercolor Society of Oregon and a founding member of the Yachats Arts Guild.  She started painting in 1996 after retiring and moving to Oregon.  Georgia was born in Colorado and has lived in Arizona, Utah, Idaho and California before retiring to Yachats, Oregon.  She has enjoyed traveling the interior of Mexico, Hawaii, Canada, New York, Washington DC, New Mexico and taken cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. Her work is being displayed at YAA, Ona Restaurant in Yachats, Canyon Way Restaurant in Newport, Touchstone Gallery, Toad Hall  and Yachats Art Guild in Yachats, Pacific Office Solutions (POS). Her work has also been juried into Florence Events Center (FEC) and displayed in various banks, drug stores, doctor offices, etc.

Richard LaFond

Richard LaFond’s latest endeavors in photography have been in the direction of photographing flowers outdoors.  “I use different focal length lenses at different F-stops in order to keep a sharp focus on the flowers and blur the background”.   Some examples of this, in addition to oceanscapes and indoor shots of flowers, will be included in the Spotlight Show.

Richard LaFond, formerly of Hollywood, California where he was a still photographer for the Steve Allen Show in the mid-sixties, now lives in Seal Rock.  Richard shot for two other major television studios in Hollywood, for over a decade.  From there he moved to the San Francisco Bay area, where he shot commercial, architectural, portraiture, and glamour photography for thirty years.  Presently he and his wife Alice, are semi-retired and enjoying the Oregon Coast.  Richard shows his work at various galleries along the central coast of Oregon as well as taking on job assignments. He is a member of the Yaquina Art Association Photographers.
