Yaquina Art Association

Nye Beach Turnaround

Founded in 1947 by a group of forward-looking artists. The building was a dressing room for those wishing to swim or enjoy the activities in 1914.
The city gave the building to our art association in 1953 and a loan for $500.00 was needed to make the building usable.
Many improvements have been done to keep the building maintained.
It sits right in the high tide surf and on stormy days the waves lap at the cement foundation,
one year a log wanted to view the art and did not wait for someone to let it enter the door, it used the window.

Our gallery has had many uses since then classroom, assembly hall, meeting place for all artists and finally a Gallery and Craft section..

If the building could talk it would tell you about all the pottery, oil paintings, watercolors, pastels and a endless array of crafts and artist that have worked, taught and displayed their art here.

There are approximately 125 members this year and they represent all forms of the arts.
Our members all have residence in Lincoln County and most display their arts and crafts for sale in the gallery.

We are located in the city of Newport, Oregon in the Nye Beach turnaround.

There is good eating, easy beach access and lots of parking, you can feed the seagulls just watch out for their surprises, and enjoy the friendly sounds of the surf.
